This is an original art poster promoting "IMAGO," a 1988 biographical documentary film about the celebrated surrealist artist Meret Oppenheim, directed by Pamela Robertson-Pearce and Anselm Spoerri. The striking black-and-white poster features a famous historic photograph by Man Ray depicting a young Meret Oppenheim posing with a printing press wheel, overlaid with hand-painted screening details for the Kino K59 in St. Gallen.
Man Ray (1890-1976) was an American artist and photographer who became an important figure in the Dada and Surrealist movements. He is famous for his experimental photography, paintings, and objects, including his "rayographs" created without a camera. His art style is characterized by imagination, unusual combinations, and a fascination with dreams, chance, and new ways of seeing.
The poster is in used condition with a horizontal fold in the lower part, a dog ear, knitters and some signs of handling.
What makes this poster special is that it's a screen printing meaning every color was individually printed by hand with a template.
The poster is unframed and will be sent rolled in a sturdy tube. The price includes registered/tracked and fully insured shipping with national post.
Upgrades for faster shipping are available at the check out. Please send me a message for a current estimation of transport time to your destination.
The current international transport time by national post is approximately 2 weeks.
Shipping to the USA is with DDP, no custom fee to pay before/at delivery.
