Ansel Easton Adams (February 20, 1902 in San Francisco, California; † April 22, 1984 in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California) was an American photographer, author and teacher of artistic photography. He was best known for his impressive landscape and nature photographs of the national parks, national monuments and wilderness areas in the western United States, which he worked to preserve throughout his life.
